How Easy is this Crispy Chickpea Recipe?
So easy, our 9-year-old can make them! So let’s get started.

1. Drain and Rinse 1 Can of Chickpeas (15 oz)
After you strain off the liquid, rinse the chickpeas and place them on a clean kitchen towel to dry.
I’ve left them anywhere from 30 to 60 minutes.
Some crispy air fryer chickpea recipes skip this step, and I find they don’t get nearly as crispy. If you want crispy chickpeas, don’t skip this step.

2. Toss Chickpeas with Avocado Oil (1.5 Tbsp)
Next, place dried chickpeas in a bowl and toss with 1.5 Tablespoons of avocado oil.
You could also use olive oil as another healthy oil option.

3. Preheat Air Fryer (390 degrees)
Turn on your air fryer to preheat it to 390 degrees.
I’ve been known to skip the preheating step more times than not, but in this case, I recommend letting your air fryer preheat for a few minutes for that crispy, crunchy chickpea.

4. Add Seasonings to Chickpeas
You can pick any variety of seasonings you like. I personally like the following:
- 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (omit if you don’t like any spice)
5. Cook Chickpeas in Air Fryer (12 minutes)
Finally, dump the chickpeas into your air fryer and cook for 12 minutes at 390 degrees. I like to give the chickpeas a little shake twice through the cooking process.

Enjoy!
These crispy chickpeas made in the air fryer are best enjoyed after a few minutes of cooling down.
How to Store these Crispy Air Fryer Chickpeas?
These chickpeas can be stored in an airtight container for 1-2 days, but I find they are best enjoyed the day you make them as they lose their crispiness.
