Cashews without peanuts as an ingredient and cashews made in peanut free facilities are the safest for those with severe peanut allergies. Some peanut free cashew brands are: Now Real Food, Karma Nuts, Sunshine Nut Co., Blue Mountain Organic, Tierra Farm, Organic Traditions, and Shiloh Farms.

Most cashews are made on shared equipment with peanuts, which makes shopping for safe cashews extremely difficult for individuals with peanut allergies that need to avoid cross-contact.
Here are several examples of cashew brands that are NOT peanut free. These cashews contain peanut oil or are packaged on shared equipment with peanuts:

Until I receive a response from these companies, it is uncertain whether the following cashew brands manufacture their cashews on the same equipment as peanuts. Their packaging and website do not clearly state this information.

ARE CASHEWS PEANUT-FREE?
Cashews are peanut-free. Cashews are a tree nut and peanuts are part of the legume family. However, tree nuts like cashews are often processed on the same equipment as peanuts, creating a risk for cross-contact allergic reactions.
Even though companies usually follow cleaning and testing procedures for the top 8 allergens in the United States, tiny unseen amounts of peanut protein can remain on the equipment. This is referred to as cross-contact or cross-contamination. Learn more from FARE.
Our daughter has reacted to food that was processed on the same equipment as peanuts, so finding foods like these cashews and cashew butters packaged in dedicated peanut-free facilities is a major blessing for peanut allergy kids and parents like us.

CAN YOU BE ALLERGIC TO CASHEWS AND NOT PEANUTS?
A peanut allergy and a cashew allergy are two different things.
- You can be allergic to both peanuts and cashews.
- You can be allergic to peanuts and not cashews.
- You can be allergic to cashews and not peanuts.
