1. Vacuum with HEPA Filter
Not all vacuums are created equally. If you’re dealing with allergies, it’s especially important to use a vacuum with an anti-allergen seal and HEPA filter to thoroughly clean dust, dirt, pet allergens, pollen, viruses, mold, and bacteria. (Learn more about HEPA filters here.)
After much research, I chose the Shark Rotator Professional Upright Vacuum, which:
- is easy to maneuver
- has a lift-away feature that makes cleaning stairs easy
- features a HEPA filter and anti-allergen seal for cleaner floors and air
📍Our family suffers from both food and environmental allergens, and we have been happy with this vacuum. See how I compare owning a Dyson vs Shark Vacuum.
2. Air Purifiers with HEPA Filters
Clean air is essential for great health.
Pet dander, dust, pollen, and mold spores in the air can be a huge trigger for allergies, and True HEPA filters can capture 99.7% of those airborne particles.
While air purifiers range greatly in price and where you can buy them, this Levoit True HEPA Air Purifier is a good middle-of-the-road option readily available on Amazon for just over $100.
- True HEPA filter captures 99.97% of airborne particles
- Ideal for allergies and pet owners
- Perfect for living rooms, bedrooms, kitchens, and offices
- Purifies 500 feet in 30 minutes can be easily carried from room to room with its built-in handle
3. Natural, Allergy-Friendly Cleaner
Cleaning is good, but some cleaners, detergents, and fragrances can aggravate allergy and asthma symptoms (source 1, source 2).
Force of Nature completely natural yet kills 99.9% of germs and is EPA approved for use against Covid-19 (see for yourself).

4. High-Quality Water Purifier

Your body is made up of mostly water, so it’s crucial for your health to have clean water going into not only your drinking water, but your coffee, tea, and food too.
After a ton of research comparing different types of water filters, I found Berky Water Filter Systems outperforms other water filters and is the best price in the long run. These are an investment compared to your typical fridge pitcher or faucet filter, but that’s because Berkey’s unique carbon filters are HIGH QUALITY and remove 99.99% of:
- viruses
- bacteria
- chlorine
- lead
- VOC’s
- BPA
- fluoride (with the fluoride filters)
- and lots of other harmful chemicals lurking in our water
📍We personally have the Royal Berkey system and Fluoride Filters for our family of four. We use it daily, LOVE it, and highly recommend it to everyone we can who’s willing to invest in their health. I don’t know anyone yet who has a Berky and doesn’t love it.
5. Air Fryer
Food allergy parents spend more time than the average family in the kitchen so they can prepare safe food.
Convenient appliances like Air Fryers can save parents and teens who cook a lot of time in the kitchen. This XL Air Fryer is best for families of 3 or more.
- cook food faster
- easier cleanup
- healthier food
- crispy without all the oil
- leftovers taste great again
📍We have an air fryer with a smaller basket and can see why families upgrade to a bigger basket or even a larger Air Fryer Toaster Oven. We use it every day for leftovers and roasted vegetables!
6. Allergy-Free Cookbook
Cookbooks for allergies are another great gift idea for those with food allergies because most recipes from family members, Google, or Pinterest don’t work for people with multiple food allergies.
Allergy-Friendly cookbooks can offer new ideas for families stuck in a rut of eating the same meals over and over. The Allergy-Free and Easy Cooking Cookbook offers easy cooking recipes for those who need to avoid dairy, eggs, wheat, soy, peanuts, tree nuts, fish, shellfish, and sesame, such as:
- Creamy Mac ‘n’ “Cheese
- Buffalo Wings with Ranch Dressing
- Deep Dish Pizza with Italian Sausage
✏️ Not all “allergy-free cookbooks” work for every food allergy family. A cookbook is best if you know which allergens the family needs to avoid.
7. Pantry Storage Containers
Stackable containers are a must for an organized, user-friendly pantry.
An airtight set like the OXO Good Grips POP Containers are a perfect gift idea to help someone have a more clean and organized pantry, while keeping their dry foods fresh.
These OXO Containers come highly recommended because they’re:
- airtight
- stackable
- space-efficient
- dishwasher safe

8. Mattress Cover
We spend a lot of time in our beds, making it another important place to keep allergen-free.
A Hypoallergenic Mattress Cover can encase your mattress to keep out dust mites, mold spores, and other allergens. A good budget-friendly option on Amazon is the Sleep Defense System Mattress Encasement. An upgraded option is the Protect-A-Bed AllerZip Mattress Encasement from Bed Bath & Beyond.
- keeps out bed bugs, dust mites, mold spores
- promotes better, deeper sleep
- machine-washable
9. Allergy Pillow Protectors
Get even better sleep when your head rests on a pillow that’s encased in an allergy protector.
AllerEase 100% Cotton Pillow Protectors are hypoallergenic, zippered, and Allergist-Recommended to prevent dust mites and other allergens. This 4-pack is a great price and features:
- 100% cotton makes these breathable, soft, quiet, and easy to care for
- waterproof cases are available too (but tend to be more plasticy/noisy)
- users experience less congestion
10. Humidifier
If maintained properly and kept at the right humidity level, humidifiers can help soothe dry sinus passages and relieve discomfort from allergies and allergy-induced asthma.
The Honeywell HCM-350 Germ-Free Cool Mist Humidifier ranks #1 on the list of the Best Humidifiers for the past several years. It works good for most bedrooms and living rooms and it is:
- easy to clean (important for allergies)
- can’t over-humidifier (also important for allergens)
- easy to fill
- runs quietly
GIFT IDEAS FOR KIDS WITH ALLERGIES
11. Children’s Books about Food Allergies
Children are never too young to start reading about food allergies, so food allergy books are a great gift idea!
The BugaBees Friends with Food Allergies is a popular food allergy book because it’s fun to read and covers all eight of the most common allergens.
Another popular book is Daniel Tiger Has an Allergy, a great book for kids who love Daniel Tiger.
Reading to kids about allergies has so many benefits, such as helping them:
- better understand food allergies

12. Carrying Case for Medicine
For those who need to take their allergy medicine everywhere, a cute travel medical case is a thoughtful gift idea.
AllerMates makes awesome Allergy Medicine Cases that are perfect for carrying allergy medicine, inhalers, contact information, and treatment plan cards on the go. We really like the Allermates Allergy Medicine Cases for Kids and the little larger Allermates Case for Adults for travel and daily use.
- can be worn around your waist like a fanny pack
- can be attached to a backpack, purse, or belt loop with velcro straps
- fits EpiPens, AuviQs, inhalers, and liquid allergy medicine like Benadryl

📍We shared an honest review of the pros, cons, and look inside our allergy medicine cases in this Allermates Case Review.
13. Kiss Freely Lip Gloss
Even makeup, skincare, and personal care items often have allergens in them, but this allergy-friendly brand makes cute gifts for stocking stuffers or birthdays.
All Kiss Freely products are vegan, gluten free, and free from the top 8 most common food allergens. Kiss Freely “Creamsicle” Lip Gloss would be a cute gift and it is free from dairy, eggs, peanuts, tree nuts, shellfish, fish, soy, wheat, corn, sesame, sunflower seeds, beeswax, coconut, shea butter, parabens, petroleum, and phthalates.
GIFT IDEAS FOR PEOPLE WHO WORRY
Anxiety is one of the most common feelings a food allergy parent experiences. Especially if their child has had anaphylactic reactions in the past. These gift ideas for self-care may help bring comfort and moments of peace for those who often feel anxious.
14. Weighted Blanket
When you want to send someone a hug, the best thoughtful gift is a weighted blanket!
Worry, anxiety, and allergies get in the way of good sleep. Weighted blankets, which are scientifically backed to lower cortisol and improve sleep, are a must-have gift for people with anxiety.
Weighted blankets feel like a big hug and this Premium Weighted Blanket with a Removable Cover has amazing reviews. This one features:
- 100% cotton
- easily removable and washable soft mink cover
- blanket weight should be around 10-12% of your body weight
- full refund–no questions asked–if you’re unhappy with it
📍Our family has firsthand experience with the benefits of weighted blankets. In our house, three of us use a weighted blanket and even take it when we travel to get better sleep.

Every mom is concerned for her children, no matter their age. From their friend choices to their health and spiritual life, moms sometimes cross the line from care into fear and worry.

📍I received this book as a gift from a caring friend and am really enjoying it so far.
